How has poetry, the oldest of the literary arts, come to be regarded by so many as a source of pain and puzzlement instead of as a source of pleasure and understanding? How can we change this too-common perception and reclaim for the art of poetry its role as provider of both sensual gratification and deeper comprehension of the human condition and the world? How do poets draw on the richness of poetic tradition as well as our most original and daring impulses to create poems that delight the senses and the mind? As writers, how do we keep the creative process a deeply pleasurable one?

Join us for an evening of conversation and readings with four authors and lovers of poetry who will share their literary works, their thoughts on the writing and reading of poetry, and their passion for rich and concise language that makes us feel more awake to the beauties and mysteries of our lives.
