Don't miss our fall open house. Meet the Library staff, learn about our services and our collection. Take a behind-the-scene tour of the Library, browse the library's adult and children's collection, take advantage of a special book sale while enjoying popcorn and beverages, and enter a raffle for movie tickets. Then join us for a bit of jazz to round out the day!

Explore the exhibit THE CITY WRITES ITSELF and other series featuring photographs, poems, collages and journals that span projects completed in France, Italy, Eastern Europe and Uganda with photographer and poet Jennifer Huxta.

Behind-the-Scenes Tours: 14h30, 15h30 and 16h30
Learn more about the history of The American Library in Paris, tour the reconfigured Library after the summer renovation and get the scoop on what else goes on in the Library beyond public view. There is more to the Library than meets the eye!

In the Children's Room: Throughout the afternoon, drop in and meet Celeste Rhoads our dynamic youth librarian in the new Children's Room. Discover the world of books, DVDs and programs available for kids and teens.

In the Teen Mezzanine: "Slices of Poetry" with Jennifer Huxta 15h30 - 16h30 (ages 8-12)

For this workshop please bring in a picture that you like! It can be a photo of friends or family, or a picture cut out of a magazine.

Following a series of spontaneous writing prompts based on your picture, you'll write large on big pieces of paper with colored pens and markers, highlighting certain words and obscure others by painting on and around them. Cut out the best parts and collage them onto a new piece of paper, then paint again and collage new elements into the final piece. Bring your creativity for this engaging activity!

In the Reading Room: The American Jazz Trio 18h00 - 18h30
Philip Crawford on piano, Adrian Dearnell on bass and Oiver Griffith on saxophone and flute play standards from the Great American Songbook.
