Description
Word for Word on two nights!
The American Library is delighted to welcome back the celebrated San Francisco theater company that puts great American short stories on stage - word for word. Returning to Paris for the seventeenth year, Word for Word presents Sorry Fugu, a short story written by satirist T. C. Boyle and directed by John Fisher.
Presented with the generous support of the Florence Gould Foundation, the Search Foundation, and the Annenberg Foundation. Albert, a self proclaimed “great culinary artist,” is determined to win over Willa, the hard-nosed food critic, who visits his restaurant. Disaster ensues — until Albert concocts a diabolical plan. T.C. Boyle (“an explosively gifted satirist” — N.Y. Times) writes of food and passion in Sorry Fugu, his witty, wicked look at restaurants and critics. You can find the short story in Boyle's If the River Was Whiskey, available at the Library (call #F B6971).
T. C. Boyle is the author of thirteen novels, including World's End (winner of the PEN/Faulkner Award), Drop City (a New York Times bestseller and finalist for the National Book Award), The Women, Talk Talk and When the Killing's Done. His most recent story collections are The Human Fly and Other Stories and Wild Child. Learn more about the author on his website.
The March 20 performance is sponsored by Fondation Jeannine Manuel. The March 21 performance is sponsored by American Library in Paris. On March 21 join us at the Library after the show for a glass of wine or juice and a chance to meet the actors and crew.
