Janet Skeslien Charles joined the American Library in Paris as Programs Manager in October, 2010.
Originally from Montana, Janet Skeslien Charles has lived in Paris since 1999. Before working at the Library, she taught English and creative writing for fifteen years. She is the author of Moonlight in Odessa(Bloomsbury), which is based on her time as a Soros Fellow in Odessa, Ukraine from 1994-1996. The backdrop of the novel is the booming business of email-order brides, an industry where love and marriage meet sex and commerce. It has been translated into 12 languages. As Programs Manager, she is responsible for the Evenings with an Author series, from booking authors to creating publicity materials and coordinating the sales of books with local booksellers. She also organizes Library book groups and writes a portion of the Library newsletter. |
