You can access the full-text databases of JSTOR and EBSCO when you are hooked up to the Wi-Fi system on your laptop in the Library, or at one of our dedicated computer stations. You can download selections from the databases to your laptop's hard drive or USB key. See the online database descriptions below to learn more about these superb resources. The purchase of these databases is made possible by a special collections grant from the Search Foundation, whose generosity also extends to supporting our book purchases and periodical subscriptions. JSTORJSTOR's "Public Library Collection I" focuses on arts and humanities journals within JSTOR, featuring more than five hundred titles across approximately forty disciplines from the following collections: Arts & Sciences IEstablished in 1997, JSTOR's first collection includes core journals in economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences. This collection also contains titles in ecology, mathematics, and statistics. Overall, there are 119 titles in fifteen disciplines. More information. Arts & Sciences IIThe Arts & Sciences II Collection is home to 124 titles. This collection adds depth to many disciplines introduced in Arts & Sciences I, such as economics, history, and Asian studies. Arts & Sciences II also offers core journals in several new disciplines, such as archaeology, classics, and African, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and Slavic studies. More information. Arts & Sciences IIIArts & Sciences III includes journals in languages and literature, as well as essential titles in the fields of music, film studies, folklore, performing arts, religion, and the history and study of art and architecture. There are 150 titles in this collection. More information. Arts & Sciences IVThis collection has a strong focus on the professions of business, education, and law, and also includes titles in psychology and public policy and administration. Arts & Sciences V (completed by end of 2009)This collection builds on previously introduced disciplines, adding important literary reviews and state historical journals. It will also widen the scope of core disciplines in the arts and humanities, such as philosophy, history, classics, religion, art and art history, and language and literature. When complete, the collection will number at least 120 titles. More information. Arts & Sciences VI (completed by end of 2010)With a minimum of one hundred twenty (120) titles, the Arts & Sciences VI Collection will extend JSTOR's coverage in disciplines across the social sciences, with clusters focused in economics, education, linguistics, political science, and area studies. Arts & Sciences ComplementThe Arts & Sciences Complement allows participants to seamlessly add journals related to the core Arts & Sciences I, II, III, and IV Collections. For the Arts & Sciences Complement, journals may be focused in any of JSTOR's more than thirty arts, humanities, and social sciences disciplines. JSTOR's aim is to introduce important titles not included in earlier collections and to capture journals that cross discipline boundaries. A minimum of 150 journals will be added over five years. NovelistNoveList is an electronic readers' advisory resource which assists fiction readers in finding new authors and titles. Three powerful search techniques allow readers to look for books by entering descriptive terms that appear in subject headings, reviews, and other fields in the title records. NoveList also features Advanced Natural Language searching and Boolean searching, providing full-text searching of reviews to Describe a Plot. Users can browse theme-oriented book lists at every reading level through Explore Fiction, and look for outstanding titles in Best Fiction. Many title records have direct links to Web sites with information about the author or teacher resource materials.
