Description

YAFF 2012 FlyerThe America in Library in Paris is proud to be the organizer of the Young Authors Fiction Festival in collaboration with the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) France and Time Traveler Tours. The Fiction Festival aims to strengthen community among English-speakers in the Paris area through the art and craft of storytelling.

The Fiction Festival is open to all students ages 5 to 18 in the greater Paris area who write in English. It offers a wonderful opportunity for educators to encourage creative writing among their students. Deadline for submissions is midnight 1 April 2012.

We invite you to participate in the 2012 Young Authors Fiction Festival and we welcome your help.

Teachers, here's how you can help...

  • If you know of another teacher outside of your school who might be interested in YAFF 2012 please pass along this webpage address for more details.

Many SCBWI-France authors will be on hand to offer tips to young authors at the culminating Festival Celebration at the American Library on Friday 8 June 2012. At the Festival Celebration we honor all participating authors and burgeoning storytellers as well as announce the finalists.  Finalists will be notified prior to the event, but all young authors are encouraged to attend this celebration of books for youth and children. Stories from each grade/year will be published in a special edition the Library's Teen Zine.
Would your school, store, or library like a writer and/or illustrator from the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) France to come visit your students to…
  • present a creative writing workshop?
  • get them going on their Fiction Festival pieces?
  • discuss the art and craft of writing and/or illustrating books for children and youth?
If so, let us know by sending us an email to and we'll send you a list of SCBWI authors in January 2012 who are available for workshops and school visits.
