Description

When Miss Ackerman introduced us to Leonardo da Vinci and Galileo, Raphael and Machiavelli, I startled myself by thinking that I would become a Renaissance (wo)man. I would nurture my curiosity for nature, animals and our earth; music, art and theatre; and religions, languages and culture. You laugh, but I knew some of this already. Our housekeeper, Marta, called my handsome little brother, “guapo,” and told him to, “deme uno beso,” and I let her use my precious Caran d’Aches to draw the mountains and villages of her native Guatemala.
