Description

Explore this exhibit on visual literacy expressed through photography.

As a remedial educator, children are continuously show me how looking and seeing are not spontaneously acquired during their development and can greatly differ from one child to another. As an adult, I can vouch for this and, since taking up black and white photography, my sense of vision has radically changed with surprising benefits to my daily life. Not to mention how Paris reveals itself though my camera in a puzzling and often revealing manner to Parisians themselves.

Photography has proven itself not only to be a wonderful exchange between my left and right brain; it has also shown me that there is a sense of creativity in all of us which lends a balance to our lives. Not having had any lessons in the techniques of taking a photo, all that I catch in my third eye is heartfelt - and this is the message I'd like to pass along to you - let your intuition play a part in your lives! Does not matter which way your eye wanders - whether it looks off to far horizons or reaches for the sky - give your creativity a chance and go for it!

Frances P. Ryan - Psychomotor therapist, remedial educator, photographer and adventurer who has lived and worked in England, Australia, India, France and Malta.

Join us on Thursday 1 October for a presentation on Visual Literacy in conjunction with this exhibit.
