One of the Library's most popular programs and a tradition since the 1930s is the Evenings with an Author series, supported by the Annenberg Foundation. The program has featured some of the most prominent writers of the 20th century.

Unless otherwise stated, programs begin at 19h30, take place at the Library, and are free and open to Library members and to the general public.

Contact Margot Boyer-Dry if you are interested in scheduling a reading at the Library.

The children's department is a busy place that offers close to 200 programs a year for children of all ages. Annual Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Valentines Day parties are always a big hit. Our ever-changing series of member programs and events for children includes our Mother Goose program, a lap-sit for one- to three-year-olds. Slightly older children (three to five years old) may participate in our weekly story hour every Wednesday (morning and afternoon). There are also events for children six years and up on Saturdays. Young adults (age 12 and up) have their own special programs.

A monthly flyer of children's and teen programs is available at the Library, or you can print out a copy from the link in the right column of this page.

Members and users of the Library have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of art exhibits throughout the year. Past exhibits have ranged from photography to mixed media, manga animation and watercolors, to the image of blacks in Western art. Our exhibits build on subjects addressed in the Library's collection and are usually accompanied by an evening speaker presentation. Contact Naida Kendrick Culshaw to discuss your exhibit idea.
