Word for Word is back!
The American Library is delighted to welcome back the celebrated San Francisco theatrical troupe that puts great American short stories on stage - word for word. Returning to Paris for the fifthteenth year, Word for Word presents Two On A Party by Tennessee Williams.
In Two on a Party, a very unlikely couple takes a road trip in this picture of the sexual mores of the 1950's. When Cora meets Billy they are just a couple of night owls on a couple of New York bar stools. But soon, they find a bond in their desire for men. A heartbreaking tale of companionship, and certainly one the funniest and fun filled stories Williams ever set to paper, conveying all the heat, whimsy and aching desire of the Master's great plays, The Glass Menagerie and A Streetcar Named Desire.
The single performance is a joint fundraiser for the Library and Word for Word. And please join us at the Library after the show for a glass of wine or juice and a chance to meet the actors and crew. Suggested donation: 20€ (10€ students)
Reservations are now closed, but don’t give up. Due to possible no-shows, some places may be available on the evening of the performance on a first-come, first-seated basis. Come early – 19h30 is good -- to queue outside the Salle Adyar, just across avenue Rapp from the Library.
