About Mary Jo Salter

Mary Jo Salter was born on August 15, 1954 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She grew up there and in Detroit and Baltimore. She was educated at Harvard and at Cambridge, and worked as a staff editor at The Atlantic Monthly and as Poetry Editor of The New Republic before becoming a co-editor of The Norton Anthology of Poetry (4th edition, 1996; 5th edition, 2005). She currently teaches at Johns Hopkins University.
