Description
This human experience which lasted several months has been of real interest to me : entering the particular world of cafés, catching glances, observing lonely individuals or groups, discussions with unknown people or with talkative and curious barmen. I discovered that the art of photography is not just a question of pressing the button to catch the “decisive instant” even with the best technical virtuosity. Photography is much more : lives, stories, secrets, modesty, a part of oneself ... photography allows an instantaneous exchange (snapshot) ...
Cafés have been - and continue to be - an important social meeting point where people gather to talk, write, read, entertain one another, or pass the time. Experience the visual world of the Parisian café, a quintessential part of French life.
About Anne Boudard
I take an interest in two different worlds.
Simplicity and even naïvety of an ordinary everyday scene, however infinitely moving scene : a couple or a single person crossing a bridge, a life and a story, a woman reading under a bridge, in a café, a shadow “inhabiting” a place or on the way, a person dreaming in a public place.
The other world is invisible at first sight but you can feel it and above all you can imagine: distorted images of human beings as if you were entering a fantastic world where everything is harmoniously blending with the place. The light, the lines, the colours, the contrasts get out of shape and take a new appearance. Just unknown shapes that you feel, the sketch of an abstract painting which carry us in a new world however so close....
